Community Guidelines

Peace isn’t found — it’s created. Together.

If you need help right now

The Community is a supportive space, but it is not an emergency or crisis-response service and is not monitored in real time. If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, call your local emergency services (911 in the US). In the US you can also call or text 988 — the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

1. You’re allowed to struggle here

Talking about depression, grief, trauma, anxiety, anger, recovery, or suicidal thoughts is not against these guidelines. Asking for support is exactly what this space is for. We do not suspend or ban members simply for expressing emotional pain or distress.

There is a difference between:

  • Sharing or seeking support — discussing mental-health struggles, sadness, grief, trauma, recovery, or asking others for encouragement. This is welcome.
  • Content that raises a serious safety concern — credible threats, encouragement of self-harm, instructions that facilitate self-harm, threats toward another person, or circumstances suggesting an immediate and serious risk to someone’s safety. This is handled differently.

2. Community safety & crisis signals

Community posts and comments may be processed by automated safety systems and, where appropriate, reviewed by authorized members of our team. Screening looks for language that may indicate self-harm, suicide, threats of harm, or another serious safety concern.

  • A flag is a safety signal for possible human review — not a diagnosis, an assessment, or a conclusion about you.
  • A flag does not publicly identify you, label you as suicidal, diagnose you, suspend your account, or announce anywhere that your content was flagged.
  • Safety review and any outreach are handled privately whenever reasonably possible.
  • Automated screening can make mistakes, and it may miss things. It does not run in real time, and we can’t promise every concern is detected.
  • We may provide crisis resources, check in with you privately, moderate content, or take other reasonable safety action when necessary.

Safety support and discipline are separate. Being offered resources is not a warning, a strike, or a punishment.

If you’re worried about another member, please report the content rather than trying to diagnose them or confront them publicly. Reporting reaches people who can help.

3. What is not allowed

  • Encouraging, instructing, or glorifying suicide or self-harm.
  • Threats of violence against another person, or content indicating intent to harm others.
  • Harassment, bullying, stalking, or targeting another member.
  • Hate speech or abuse based on identity.
  • Spam, scams, or promotion disguised as support.
  • Sharing another member’s private information.

We distinguish between someone expressing difficult emotions or asking for support, content suggesting possible immediate danger, content encouraging self-harm, threats against another person, and harassment. These are handled differently — support first where support is what’s needed.

4. Reporting

Every post and comment has a Report option, including a “Concerned about someone’s safety” category. Reports are private — the person you report is not told who reported them. You can also block a member at any time, which hides your content from each other.

5. Your private journal stays private

Journal entries are not publicly visible and are not used for Community moderation or Community safety monitoring, and are not made available to administrators through the safety review system. If the app notices concerning language while you write privately, it may show you supportive resources on your own screen — that check happens on your device and does not create an admin-visible copy of your entry.

6. Actions we may take

Depending on what human review finds, we may take no action, share crisis resources, check in with a member, remove content, or restrict an account for guideline violations such as threats or harassment. Where we reasonably believe there is a serious or imminent threat to someone’s safety, we may share limited relevant information with appropriate parties where permitted or required by law. We do not contact emergency services automatically based on an automated flag alone.
